Is Foldy free to use?
Foldy can be downloaded for free. The Free plan includes document scanning, text extraction, in-document search, and iCloud sync. Pro features, including document summaries, reminders, and appointments, require a paid subscription. See the Pricing page for the current price and feature details.
Are my documents sent to AI providers?
Foldy processes documents on your device by default. When you use an AI-powered feature, the relevant content is sent to our AI provider to generate the requested result. We aim to minimize and anonymize the data before transmission, but anonymization may not remove every personal detail. Please avoid uploading information you do not want processed by an external AI provider.
What documents can Foldy handle?
Foldy is designed for official letters and everyday paperwork, including documents from government offices, insurers, landlords, and other organizations. You can add PDFs, scans, and photos, provided the text is sufficiently clear. Results may vary depending on image quality, handwriting, document structure, and language.
Does Foldy provide legal or financial advice?
No. Foldy explains the contents of documents and helps identify possible tasks, dates, and next steps. It does not replace legal, tax, financial, or professional advice. Always verify important information with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.
Does Foldy store my documents?
Foldy's processing and storage depend on the feature you use. Documents are processed on your device by default, while certain AI features transmit relevant content to an external AI provider. Please see the App Privacy Policy for details about storage, synchronization, AI processing, and deletion.
Which languages does Foldy support?
The Foldy app is available in five languages: English, German, Italian, Spanish, and Ukrainian. It's designed to help you understand official German letters and supports German-language documents. This website is currently available in English and German.
Does Foldy work offline?
Some features may work locally on your device, but AI-powered features require a network connection when content must be sent to the AI provider.
Why not just use Google Drive or ChatGPT?
Storage and chat tools don't keep watch for you. A folder won't track a deadline, and a chatbot only answers when you remember to ask.
I already keep documents in folders on my phone, isn't that enough?
Folders only help if you remember where you filed things. Foldy finds any letter by what's inside it, not by a folder name you have to recall, so you're not hunting for that one document right before a deadline.
Can't I just use Google Translate?
Translation gives you the words, not what they mean for you. A translated official letter still leaves you guessing what to actually do. Foldy explains it in plain language and tells you the next step and the deadline.
